Whitmore Charter School of Art and Technology
Whitmore Charter School of Art and Technology is a site based kindergarten through eighth grade school with two classes at each grade. We offer a mix of experiential, project based learning and traditional teaching approaches. Kindergarten through fifth grades work collaboratively to ensure that every child is provided the opportunity, not only to learn, but to love learning. We have Fine Arts and Technology committees who consistently collaborate with classroom teachers. WCS believes in teaching the whole child and, as such, every child in kindergarten through fifth grade experiences formal education in art, music, dance, drama, physical education, and technology. We have a longer school day and smaller class sizes than most schools, with only 22 students in kindergarten through second grades, and 25 in third through 8th grades.
In sixth through eighth grades, our students experience quality middle school education in a safe and academically challenging environment. Our Middle School teaching team is unified in their expectation that Whitmore students develop skills that will support them in their quest for success throughout their lives. Electives for our Middle School students include Spanish, Innovative Music, Art I and II, Drama, Dance, Digital Art, Lifeskills, and classroom teaching assistant opportunities. Our middle school is unique in class size and because our students, go from class to class with the same students, resulting in long lasting friendships. We are proud of our high expectations for behavior and tradition of student acceptance.
